Few cities are quite as epic as York in the North of England. It is quaint enough and compact enough to feel like a village, but has the length and breadth of history to house the memories of the Vikings, the Romans, the Protestant Reformation and the Railway arriving. Just a short train travel away from the vast metropolis of London is a dynamic, historic and magic destination for any traveler. Press+1 explored York previously and you can find our coverage “Exploring The City of York” but after our first trip to York and feeling the city had so much more to offer, we headed for a second visit to York and explored the National Railway Museum, the York Minster, the newly renovated Yorkshire Museum and took a tour around on a Pullman Tour Bus. I also managed to trek the 2 miles along the exterior wall of the city that was built by the Romans and is one of the most in tact walls surrounding a city in Europe. York is stoic, strong and an earthy elegance that seems so incredibly genuine. So, take a look at the highlights of York, and you can use our “Exploring The City of York” as a companion piece. Also, we review another accommodation, the Dean Court Hotel (at the end of the video) and its Restaurant (HERE), which are centrally located directly across from the York Minster. And we took to the streets and compiled a visual collection of images while touring the city seen in the slideshow.
Have you been to York? Do you have a great story about the city? A great "find" along the way? A "must see"? Leave a comment and let us and fellows readers know!
