"The anomalies on the season finale take us on a journey through past episodes!" Written by: David Ly The opener for the season finale takes us to the U.K with an angry Albertosaurus charging down the streets, with a team from A.R.C (Anomaly Research Center) following close behind. Any of you familiar with the original U.K version of the show, probably got the same smile I did when Connor Temple appeared leading the team! Soon after the Albertosaurus goes through the anomaly, a member from A.R.C – Keiran – goes through, and Connor goes in to rescue him. Last week, we left off with Toby dying, and Dylan running back with an anti-venom, having to leave Evan behind in the anomaly. As Dylan makes an epic run back with the Brontoscorpio tail, Toby’s condition is stabilized, but the doctor doesn’t see any improvement, putting Mac into more of a worry. His worry quickly turns into anger when he confronts Ange as she watches over Toby. Mac tries to push Ange away thinking she’s trying to recruit Toby for Project Magnet. After a heated discussion about what they think is the best solution to their anomaly problem, they put aside their differences and both agree to hope for things to turn out the best. At last, Dylan makes it back in time and sends the Brontoscorpio tail back to the lab, but she bolts it back into the anomaly to rescue Evan. However, on his way looking for his fellow A.R.C man, Connor stumbles into the same anomaly as Dylan; the two run into each other and briefly introduce themselves. Dylan finds out that Connor and Dylan have met before (Remember, Connor was the one who instructed Evan to always put things back into the anomalies). With Connor’s help Dylan frees Evan, but in return they must help him find Keiran. Back in the lab, the ant-toxin is being prepared to save Toby, and Mac makes some emotional confessions to her, “You need to keep stickin’ around, okay? ‘Cause you’re…well…it’s obvious isn’t it? You’re my best friend. And I don’t want to lose you.” The anti-toxin is successfully given to Toby, and she is saved. Upon waking up, Toby realizes why her anomaly detection machine was off in determining how long the anomalies were to be open for. While in her state of unconsciousness, she explains that it allowed her to realize that the reason for the machine’s bugs were that it was picking up signals from multiple anomalies all at once (i.e: it was reading the multiple anomalies in the Junction that Evan and Dylan discovered; that land where multiple portals in time were simultaneously opening). Evan, Dylan, and Connor escape the Brontoscorpio, and to Evan’s shock, the Albertosaurus that Connor and his team were chasing is the same one that killed his wife six years ago. Upon knowing this, he knows exactly where to find it. The three go through the anomaly leading to the moment that changed Evan’s life (Luckily he stumbled upon it last episode). Meanwhile, Toby figures out that Dylan and Evan have twelve hours to get back, and Ange sends in a rescue team. “Brooke dies in 97 minutes.” Evan slightly struggles with resisting yet another chance to save his wife. Dylan talks some sense into him, and things are best left unchanged in the past. He even takes the effort to wipe blood off the wall, as six years ago it was not there. Connor finds a severely wounded Kerian while the Albertosaurus stalks the building. The four of them manage to escape back to the anomaly junction with the Albertosaurus behind them. However, Colonel Hall (leading the rescue team that Ange sent) arrives at the anomaly Junction and tranquilizes the Albertosaurus, ordering it to be hauled out of the anomaly. Hall wants to experiment on it, as he firmly believes he can change the present, and the future, for the better by tampering with the past. If that isn’t problematic enough, he refuses to let Connor and Keiran return back to their time in the U.K. While Hall loads up the sleeping Albertosaurus into a truck, Leeds is able to get Mac a disguise to go and help Evan fix the mess Hall is creating; he can’t just take creatures out of their time and do whatever he wants with them. Especially, if the creature can profoundly change Evan’s life, therefore impacting everything in the present. Arriving on location, Mac sees that Connor is wearing the same symbol (A.R.C) that future Mac was wearing on his jacket. The two Brit lads have a friendly chat, and Connor comforts Mac to stop trying to find out what the alternate timeline held for him. Ange then has a chat with Connor in trying to get him to help Project Magnet. However, with some much needed bluntness, he successfully scares her into realizing that the anomalies can’t be controlled; they must only be regulated by putting everything that comes out back in. Being so, she helps in getting Connor and Keiran back through the anomaly, back to their time. Things get heated when the Albertosaurus awakes, and breaks out of the truck, rampaging towards a local gas station, causing it to be fired at. In the struggle to keep it under control, Colonel Hall gets seriously injured, and we are left in the dark as to whether if he’s alive. Evan, Dylan, and Mac push the Albertosaurus back into the anomaly. This is a bitter task for Evan as he is literally pushing the Albertosaurus back through the anomaly that sets the scene for his wife’s death. But, this time, future Mac isn’t there to save Evans life, as he is now technically, dead. On the spot, Mac rushes into the anomaly (into the past) and saves Evan’s life, definitely changing the present. While Evan mourns, the Albertosaurus charges out of the anomaly at him and Dylan, and Evan shoots it to death in a rage. Suddenly, the anomalies in the Junction start closing all around them. Turns out, by killing the Albertosaurus (or Mac running into the past and saving “past Evan” so he would still exist) definitely changed something. Dylan and Evan try to run back through the original anomaly they came through, but the season ends before we know if they made it.
Best quote: Evan to Colonel Hall: “Look, you can’t just take these creatures out of their time and do whatever you want with them. That Albertosaurus is a threat. And now you’ve pulled it. Everything around us is about to unravel."
