LMFAO

By Alexander Hutt

February has some very big pop acts hitting Vancouver, including LMFAO, Simple Plan, and Jann Arden. They aren’t the only ones to see though, as it looks to be a good February for music!

February 9th, 2012
Cherrytree Pop Alternative Tour featuring LMFAO
Pacific Coliseum, 7:00 pm
$29.50 and $45.00
All Ages

For those who find LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It” funny, they are one of many who take the stage at the Pacific Coliseum, with Far East Movement, Natalia Kills, Frankmusik, Kay, Rye Rye and Colette Carr. If nothing else, go for Natalia Kills.

February 11th, 2012
Simple Plan with guests Marianas Trench
Pacific Coliseum, 7:00 pm
$29.50 and $45.50
All Ages

It still baffles music critics why Simple Plan has the popularity that it does, and their song “Untitled (How Could This Happen to Me?)” is one of the funnier internet memes out there. Really, this suggestion is here to go catch Marianas Trench, who always put on a good show! All Time Low and These Kids Wear Crowns will also be playing.

February 20th, 2012
Megadeth – Gigantour
Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Arena, 6:30 pm
$32.25, $ 55.25 & $59.50
All Ages

There’s a great line-up for this concert, with the headliners Megadeth and guests Motorhead, Volbeat and Lacuna Coil. If you haven’t heard of Lacuna Coil, but like Evanescence’s earlier records, you will most likely enjoy their music as well.

February 21st, 2012
Jann Arden
Orpheum, 8:00 pm
$59.50, $79.50 & $99.50
All Ages

Reason to go: It’s Jann Arden! She has one of the biggest Canadian pop acts for years, and she is touring her latest record Free, and a new covers album Uncover Me 2. Though we do hope she plays a bit of “Cherry Popsicle” and “Another Human Being.”

February 24th, 2012
The Darkness
Commodore Ballroom, 9:30 pm
$36.50
19+ show

Bands that usually form out of karaoke sessions aren’t normally great, but singer Justin Hawkins has a voice that will remind you of the rock of the 80s. If you want a classic rock fix, but with a current band, join them for a little “I Believe In A Thing Called Love.”
