A decade after The Sickness made Disturbed the next big thing in metal, they have released a re-mastered anniversary edition to commemorate their “Decade of Disturbed”. The album includes two bonus tracks as well: "A Welcome Burden" and "God Of The Mind." They will also be releasing a DVD documenting their first ten years as a band, and the trailer can be viewed here.

With such a loyal fan base (“the Disturbed ones”), this passionate, evocative metal band has gained the respect of the hard-rock world. Their rapid fire guitar riffs and hard hitting beats define their anthemic, cult-like music philosophy while they also manage to include political issues in their songs that incite crowds to follow them as if they were the next world leaders.

The Decade of Disturbed DVD to accompany this special edition album includes plenty of live concert footage from the past ten years and is set to be released some time this year. The trailer for the film states: “When music is the weapon, no one is safe. When music is the weapon, we are all indestructible. When music is the weapon, every fist has a voice. When music is the weapon, you must believe in the cause. When music is the weapon, a world army unites. When music is the weapon, the sickness is the cure.” This seems to sum up what Disturbed is all about: uniting people for their cause; uniting their followers through music.

Listening to this album ten years after it came out, it still feels as fresh and as powerful a rock album as ever. It is still relevant to our times and it is still just as fun to scream along to, especially their iconic “Ow-agh-agh-agh-agh” of “Down with the Sickness”. The two new tracks keep to their style of fast paced punchy lyrics and as they say in “A Welcome Burden”, they are still interested in adding to their growing mass of follwers: “Gather your pathetic masses and bring them to me…Gather your psychotic masses and bring them to me.”
