Gerry finally goes out with his dream girl... If only he didn't run into a former date with a vendetta.
Written by Aaron Bala While on traffic duty Gerry sees Kira and her mom Jean and reminds Jean that they agreed to go on a date, they decide to go out that night. In the hallways, Lisa finds Mr. Leung to ask him a question but in a haste Mr. Leung walks into a locker door and the kids all laugh at him. In the teacher’s lounge, Trudy complains that Gerry doesn’t bring his attendance to the office. When she finds out he’s going on a date later than night she gives him some advice which he rejects. Back at the library Lisa finds Mr. Leung (with a large bruise on his face) to thank him for allowing her to book the library at the last minute. Mr. Leung claims he only did it for the kids. The kids however are all laughing at something on their computers, Lisa and Mr. Leung see that it’s a video of Mr. Leung hitting his head on the locker. He kicks everyone out of the library, and later tries to disassemble the computers entirely. That night Gerry is on his date with Jean and things are going really well, until a girl at the bar realizes Gerry looks familiar. It’s Diane, the escort Bill once hired and set up on a date with Gerry as a practical joke. Diane confronts Gerry complaining that he never paid her for that night. After some awkward conversation, Jean leaves to let Gerry sort this out on his own. The next day at school Gerry asks Kira about her mom’s behaviour after she got home last night, but she isn’t able to tell him anything. In the library, Mr. Leung stands on his chair (which ends up spinning) and makes a big speech demanding the students take down the video. Gerry arrives at Jean’s workplace to try to explain things, but she doesn’t believe him and walks away. At the house he complains to Bill about the predicament. Bill tells him he should be nice to Kira, and worm his way back in that way. At school Trudy complains to Gerry that he marked a student absent who was actually there, and when she called his parents they called the police and reported him missing. She punishes him by making him cover Mr. Sweeney’s class for the week. In the teacher’s lounge the teachers are watching a video of Mr. Leung’s speech asking the kids to stop. Mr. Leung walks in just in time to see this go down. Lisa’s finally had enough and stands up on her chair to give a heartfelt speech about her grandmother to get the faculty to stop mocking Mr. Leung. Mr. Leung records this and finds it hilarious (he’s the only one), promising to put it up on the internet. At the end of the day Jean arrives to pick up Kira. Kira excitedly tells her that Gerry put her back on the basketball team after cutting her previously. Jean tells Gerry she knows what he’s doing, but Gerry sees that it’s working. Back at the library, Lisa sees the kids and Mr. Leung watching something on the computer. Mr. Leung has recut her speech to make it sound like she killed her grandmother. Lisa wonders what’s wrong with him. Funniest Line: “I want them to laugh behind my back like they do to you” – Mr. Leung to Cheeley. Best moment: Bill feeling threatened when his date says hi to Gerry. Number of people Gerry offended this week: Diane by not paying her, Jean, and poor, sweet Lucy. Final Thoughts: There were a lot of great jokes this week, so many I struggled to narrow down my favourites. The show lacked a big twist at the end of act two though and as a result it struggled structurally – scenes grew redundant, and it’s a shame because it’s a funny premise. The episode never builds to a satisfying climax, but at least it was funny.
