Even non-football fans can enjoy the annual ritual of the Super Bowl thanks to the cavalcade of commercials that air during the breaks (at $4 million USD a pop). And with all those eyes (111 million viewers during last year's games), it's an impossible opportunity for studios to resist as a platform to promote their future big releases. Now, you can see all the big movie trailers without the bother of watching four hours of football. First, what potentially might be the biggest movie of the summer, The Avengers. The extended trailer gives you a much better show than the 30 second one, including an awesome hero shot of the whole team together for the first time:
Sacha Baron Cohen tries to shock and awe again in The Dictator, which I don't think has much in the way of new footage in this Super Bowl ad:
In the G.I. Joe: Retaliation spot we get The Rock quoting Jay-Z, a look at the real Cobra Commander, and Bruce Willis' "Call me Joe" moment. For anyone that hated The Rise of Cobra, but still loves G.I. Joe, prepare to get your hopes up:
Speaking of toy-based movies, the new Battleship ad screened during the game, and while it gave a first look at the alien antagonists, it also still struggles to not look like Transformers 4:
For films a little bit closer to their release date, there was another new look at The Hunger Games. (Sadly, all the embeds are disabled, so you'll have to pop over to YouTube to watch it.) Another adaptation of a well-known and popular (though much older) book, Disney offered another look at John Carter:
And for the kids, there's a new look at the upcoming animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax:
And in case you hadn't heard about this one, the Super Bowl had another plug for Star Wars in 3-D:
