That inaudible scream you heard around downtown Toronto this afternoon, was throngs of fans, both young and old, trying to catch a star-sighting of the young man that was once the Boy Who Lived. Daniel Radcliffe was in Toronto today to promote The Woman in Black, a haunted house drama that opens across North America next week. In it, Radcliffe plays Arthur Kipps, a lawyer haunted by the death of his beloved wife and left to raise his young son alone when he's called to a country estate to put the affairs of the recenrtly deceased Alice Drablow in order. The villagers, afraid of a vengeful ghost that haunts the estate, try to get Arthur to leave, only to provoke the ghost - the Woman in Black - further as Arthur uncovers its mysteries. For Radcliffe, the film represents a huge departure from his iconic role as the boy wizard in all eight Harry Potter movies, which wrapped last year withHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. The Woman in Black, produced by England's famed Hammer Studios, allows audiences to see Radcliffe in a whole new light: broken, tormented, and struggling as his Arthur tries to put aside the past to make a life for his now motherless son. But on the black carpet tonight at the Soctiabank Theatre in Toronto, it was a sunny and excited Radcliffe that was greeted by fans, and the actor seemed a little overwhelmed by all the Canadian love. Below is Press+1's view from the red - or make that black - carpet: While in Toronto today, Radcliffe also visited Much Music, and he took part in a Q&A hosted by film critic Richard Crouse following the screening. Look for Press+1's own video coverage from the black carpet next week along with a review of the film.
