Cineplex brings the masterpieces of Manet, Munch and Vermeer to theatres across Canada in global art series – Cineplex Entertainment’s Front Row Centre Events and BY Experience are pleased to present EXHIBITION, a new theatrical series that brings the world’s greatest art exhibitions to a Cineplex Entertainment theatre near you. EXHIBITION will present a series of “event films,” which examine the master works and monumental cultural impact of Edouard Manet, Edvard Munch and Johannes Vermeer. Each event film, hosted by art historian Tim Marlow, will go beyond the gallery with exclusive behind the scenes footage. “We are delighted to be bringing this spectacular international series to audiences across the country,” said Brad LaDouceur, Vice President, Alternative Programming, Cineplex Entertainment. “This is a great opportunity for new audiences to discover these artists, and to reinvigorate interest in their work.” Ticket sales for EXHIBITION begin March 8, 2013 at www.cineplex.com/GreatArt and participating theatre box offices. Packages for the purchase of tickets to all three event films will be available. This is the first ever major exhibition in the UK devoted to the portraiture of Edouard Manet, spanning his entire career. The exhibition will bring together great works from across Europe, Asia and the USA. Guests will see exclusive behind the scenes moments of the Royal Academy's exhibition preparation – moments usually hidden from view – and experience a detailed, superbly crafted biography of Manet and 19th century Paris. EXHIBITION: Munch 150 June 27 and July 21, 2013 Encore screenings at select locations September 21, 2013 This year, Norway celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edvard Munch (1863 1944), one of the towering figures of modern art. Munch 150, co-hosted by the National Museum and the Munch Museum (both in Oslo), is a once in a lifetime show. Global interest is huge not least as a result of one of his four paintings of The Scream having recently set a public art auction record of $120 million. Many know Munch as the man who painted The Scream, but his complete works are remarkable and secure his place as one of the greatest artists who ever lived. The event film will go behind the scenes to reveal the process of putting the exhibition together, and will provide an in depth biography of a man who lived from the mid 19th century right through to the German occupation of Norway in the Second World War. EXHIBITION: Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure Oct.10 and Nov. 3, 2013 Encore screenings at select locations November23, 2013 The National Gallery, London, is offering a major exhibition on one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all time Johannes Vermeer, painter of the Girl with a Pearl Earring. Vermeer painted little more than 30 works that still exist, and the National Gallery has chosen to focus on his art in relation to music. Music was one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and revealed an enormous amount about the sitter and the society. The event film goes beyond the exhibition to tell the entire story of Vermeer's life. The program will suit audiences who already adore Vermeer's work, and those who want to learn more about this mysterious, fascinating man.
