Title: The Follow-Through Factor: Getting from Doubt to Done Author: Gene C. Hayden Publisher: McClelland & Stewart Number of Pages: 262 Published: December 2009 ISBN: 978-0-7710-3818-1 Reviewed By Kate Nestibo
Most of us feel like we want more out of life than we are currently getting. Perhaps you want a new job, you’re thinking of relocating or you have a secret passion you have always wanted to pursue. If you are like me, all three apply. But just thinking about something won’t get you anywhere and that’s where author Gene Hayden’s ‘follow-through factor’ comes in. Hayden had an unconventional childhood with a mother who was constantly on the move in pursuit of an ever-changing dream, who dragged her along for the ride. A dream is a great place to start from, but it takes a lot more that that for a person to succeed. Realizing this, Gene spent her adult years gathering insight from individuals who have achieved their goals in various areas of life. She is now a life coach and has combined her years of research and personal experience to produce a simple and clear-cut guide on “getting from doubt to done”. This is one self-help book that won’t leave you feeling worse off than when you picked it up. Hayden’s no-nonsense advice can be but into practice by anyone with an aspiration to turn his or her innermost desires into a reality. Many people have a laundry list of excuses for why they haven’t achieved something, and I guarantee Hayden will counter any excuse you have as well as offer a solution in her new book. Each of her seventeen chapters outlines common explanations that society offers for avoiding taking action in their personal lives. Don’t have the money? The time? Scared of failing? Hayden provides a step-by-step action plan on how to conquer these problems and many more. In addition to being a fantastic guide, The Follow- Through Factor features question and answer portions that will aid you in creating a personal plan as you fill in the blanks for yourself. Hayden provides you with the opportunity to interact with her written words and the tools to implement them in ways directly suited to your individual needs. As I read through each chapter, Hayden became my very own life coach, and I didn’t have to fork out hundreds of dollars. If you are tired of making excuses for why life hasn’t turned out the way you envisioned, take the first step in becoming a person that follows through by purchasing and reading The Follow-Through Factor.
