Second City, Comedy Bar and Theatre Passe Muraille
The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival (SketchFest) is happy to announce the knee-slapping lineup for 2009! The 5th Annual Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival is bigger than ever with 48 troupes from all over North America. Theatre Passe Muraille joins the SketchFest venue family to house gut-busting special presentations for the 2009 Fest.
Festival founders Julianne and Paul Snepsts have combed through a record-breaking 100+submissions to bring the most hilarious troupes on the continent to SketchFest. Old favourites also return this year including 5-year SketchFest veterans The Sketchersons and The Understudies.
Making their Toronto premiere is Frankenmatt, a Los Angeles comedy duo made up of Second City Chicago Alumni Matt Craig and Frank Caeti, who also starred in two seasons of MADtv. Frankenmatt has been tearing up the American comedy festival circuit with rave reviews and sold out crowds with their fast paced wit and absurd characters. Caeti and Craig have been seen previously on The Office, Reno 911 and According to Jim to name a few.
 With 40 troupes calling Canada home, this is the most hoser-ish SketchFest ever! Five provinces are represented by these wacky comedy teams: Hot Thespian Action, Manitoba; Uncalled For, Quebec; The Skinny, British Columbia; The Serious, Newfoundland, and 28 Ontario troupes including The Riot, Falcon Powder and She Said What.
